This was the website of Nick Cappiello, created to promote his vision of providing a co-working environment that would bring a critical mass of solo professionals into a centralized location. He was looking for professionals who had shared values and were interested in the synergy that can happen from working with like-minded talented people in the same space although they would be still working independently. It was an ambitious concept.

When I was in Palm Beach consulting with a client regarding our Salesforce integration web services. They had one of those high end concierge medicine practices. In the case of this client, the practice needed faster lines of communication between the physicians, their staff, patients, and third-party specialists, pharmacies, and labs. We happen to use the same technology and best practices that data analysts and business intelligence pros use. For this particular client, I told them that my team would improve processes and eliminate tedious tasks that were slowing down the work load. Properly integrating all of their applications with Salesforce would eliminates the need to go back and forth between systems for data. We would create a new dashboard which would brings all their current programs together in one accessible place. After all this is Palm Beach and concierge medicine patients have high expectations of the customer service they'll receive. My team were there to help this practice. One of the principals of the concierge medical practice had used Guild of Palm Beach to promote the opening of the practice and mentioned the ambitious plans Nick Cappiello had for the guild. While I was in the vicinity, I dropped by the Guild of Palm Beach's offices in North Palm Beach. I also checked out this website when it was still live.

The site itself was engaging with its red graphics, clean layout, and visionary concept. However sometime in 2016 the site's domain expired. I happened to discover it was available and decided to purchase it with the goal of recreating some of its original content. I did not want someone else to purchase the domain and re-purpose the site for something that had nothing in common with the original TheGuildofPalmBeach.com/ website. Perhaps some one who comes across this website now will be motivated to take the concept of co-working to anothr level.

The Coworking Movement Defined

Coworking is a movement to create cafe-like community/collaboration spaces for entrepreneurs, innovators, developers, writers and others.

The movement began on the West Coast in 2005. Young entrepreneurs and independents, in the San Francisco Bay area, who felt isolated from the outside world in their home offices banded together to operate a shared workspace. Today, coworking has spread from the West Coast to the East Coast, and spaces for independent workers have developed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, DE Moines, Iowa, Akron, Ohio and North Palm Beach, Florida.

When independents form a critical mass they utilize shared social, business and technological resources and have the ability to transform an entire area, whether a neighborhood or a city. Bacigalupo and Dickert (Bacigalupo, T. and Dicket, S. NewWorkCity, August 2008) state coworking spaces assist their local communities in three general ways: Providing a space for free-flow of technical and creative expertise coworking spaces have a culture of share and support. This provides for a rapid transference of difficult-to-learn knowledge in the areas of technology (e.g. programming, system administration and applications) and creativity (techniques, strategies, information sources). Providing a support infrastructure for new entrepreneurs in coworking spaces, the trials and tribulations of starting up or running a knowledge-based business is often a common thread for a community of knowledge of workers.

By providing people a way to speak to their fellow entrepreneur, coworking spaces help make it easier for people to get their businesses off the ground. Providing long-term economic value without government investment coworking leverages the existing openness of modern entrepreneurs. Members are not simply customers; they are active in maintaining and growing the community. When many of these talented individuals are put together in the same room new ideas are cultivated and newer stronger businesses are born. This culture of growth can generate additional tax revenue and economic value for the host city.

Hack Recovery & Restoration: DTI Solutions

A compromised website is an existential problem for on online enterprise, and the potential loss of data, or public release of sensitive material can create legal liability.

We have deep experience with many kinds of intrusions via hacks, as well as distributed denial of service attacks (DDOS). Restoration is the immediate goal, but recovery can mean more than fixing the website. During the Deepwater Horizon Disaster off the coast of Louisiana in the Gulf of Mexico, we worked with the lawyers handling the injury cases against the rig owners, BP, etc. They operate in a highly specialized legal area known as maritime law. We know these corporate adversaries are powerful players because someone funded a number of hacks, defacements, and ddos attacks on the sites of the law firms handling the cases against them. The work crews were based in New Orleans and one of the attorneys' websites was also located there. We restored the defacement, basically cyber graffiti - a Romanian hacker collective claimed responsibility. The ddos required a proxy to look at all incoming traffic and reject attack requests. We then instituted new security measures. We're good at this.
